Internal Medicine Unit
The medical ward consists of the female and male medical units which in total have 3 main sections i.e. general, semi-private and private wards. The activities of the medical ward are mostly curative, involving case management of patients admitted either from the outpatient department, form the hemodialysis unit, and from specialists consultations. The ward has the expertise of many doctors and nurses though it doesn’t exempt us from encountering challenges. The unit works in collaboration with the TB and psychiatric units thereby including them
in monthly statistics. It also collaborates closely with the Diabetic, physiotherapy and HIV/ AIDS clinic. Despite these challenges, we could meet up with our main objectives (ensuring quality health care of patients). The Internal Medicine offers specialized services in Cardiology, Neurology, Chest medicine and Nephrology. It is also the ward were most patients with most infectious diseases as malaria and HIV and its complications are managed. The Medical Unit equally serves as a point of training of medical students and research in nursing and medicine. It is the ward that pilots most of the continuous training and clinical presentations in the hospital.
